Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are these tools?
LevelUP is a convenience tool for general DIY and reference use — it is not a certified or calibrated measuring instrument. For critical measurements (structural work, permits, professional installs), always verify with a dedicated level, tape measure, or laser tool. See the in-app disclaimer (tap the footer on the home screen) for tool-specific caveats.
Room Measure asks for "Motion & Fitness" access — is that safe?
Yes. Room Measure uses Apple's step-counting sensor to estimate how far you've walked. That data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere — see our Privacy Policy for details. If you decline access, every other tool in the app still works normally; you just won't be able to use Room Measure's walk-to-measure feature.
Room Measure gave me a weird distance, or seems less accurate in a small room.
Room Measure works by counting steps, so it needs a handful of steps to get a reliable reading — short walks across small rooms are inherently less precise. If you see a low-step-count warning, or the room is small, we recommend entering the measurement manually (with a tape measure) in the editable field instead; typed values are always treated as exact.
Why did I lose my saved calculator inputs?
Your last-used values are saved automatically on your device. They're only cleared if you delete and reinstall the app, or if you manually clear the app's data.
Does LevelUP work without an internet connection?
Yes. LevelUP works entirely offline — it has no servers and makes no network connections.
My phone doesn't seem to have a motion sensor / step sensor.
Most iPhones support the sensors LevelUP uses. If a sensor genuinely isn't available (for example, in the iOS Simulator or on certain configurations), affected tools fall back to a simulated demo mode so you can still see how the tool works.
